Be Inspiring 2010 Event featured Academy Award-winning sound mixer

Lexington, KY   This past Thursday night, over seventy-five leaders from the Central Kentucky region gathered at Lexington's Saint Claire Recording Company to listen to Peter J. Lehman, Academy Award-winning sound editor, composer, and mixer.

Lehman has worked on more than 60 feature films, including Jerry McGuire and Braveheart (for which he received the Oscar for Best Sound Effects Editing), theme park rides such as The Simpsons, Revenge of the Mummy, and Men in Black, and popular EA Sports video games, including the Madden NFL Football, NASCAR, and NCAA video games.

Cre8tive Group, the marketing and communications firm in Wilmore, has continued their sponsorship of this fourth annual event to bring together Central Kentucky "influencers," decision-makers in the Bluegrass in business and industry, education and government, the arts and the non-profit sector.  The impetus for the event was to create an occasion for individuals who are shaping the destiny of the greater community to interact socially, and an opportunity to learn from the creative work of an artist who's inspiring our generation.

Cre8tive Group's President, Chad Crouch, said, "Pete’s presentation was a perfect blend of inspiration and insight.  He started by showing us clips from his films Braveheart and We Were Soldiers.  He then took time to help us understand how he creates the sounds that heighten the action and emotion of any media experience.”

Brent Seales, director of the University of Kentucky’s Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments said that, “His demonstration of how everyday items like a tube sock filled with corn starch, a breast pump, or a kitchen knife spinning on a counter top - they can all be used to create amazing sound effects for film.  That really caught my imagination."

Peter Lehman described how flexibility has been key in his success.  “My background in music, audio recording, film production and sound effects have been key to my personal success.  A lot of other guys get pigeon-holed into doing one thing.  I really love keeping my options open , taking on a variety of projects."

Crouch noted that, “The evening was a real success for Cre8tive Group.  We are so thankful to Saint Claire Recording Studio for their willingness to open their space for our event.  We could not have found a better venue to showcase both Peter’s talent and Saint Claire’s amazing facility.  I think the synergy between our companies was a real benefit to our guests.”

The evening began with a cocktail hour, which allowed guests time to meet new friends, discuss their own work, and share life with each other.  The presentation led attendees to a new level of understanding and appreciation of the role of sound and music in all of our lives.  Most importantly, Peter gave a unique  “behind the scenes” look at how film, theme rides, and video games all use sound to transport the audience into the heart of any experience.

Cre8tive Group believes that, we don't 'think' inspired, we feel inspired. That’s why we bring in talented artists who demonstrate how they inspire their audiences.  Lauren Marshall, Project Manager for Cre8tive Group added, “Based on the feedback we have received from our guests, we definitely hit the mark."
